Lesson 5 (IS Test)

Another Wednesday and this Wednesday was different from the others Wednesdays. It was the IS class Test and we were working hard to solve the question. A lot of people revise their work and was very happy after the exam. Some was not so happy as trhey did't revise.

As for me, I think the question was quite easy and I hope to get an A1 for this subject.

Intro to CSS and Worksheet CSS, IS Test Preparation

Hi everyone. I am very sorry that I have not post any posts lately because I am quite busy and I have no time to work on my IS blog. Okay, today I am going to tell you my lesson 4 off IS.

Today, Mr Kent introduce us to CSS. Then, he gave us a worksheet and wanted to get in the groups that we were in when we done the html. After that, I went back and started working. I was quite hard and I manage to do it very well. It was not quite nice, but it is better than noting.

That lesson, Mr Kent also gave us revision for the test. He also post some of the things we needed to revise. At home, I revise it very hard. Hoping to score and A1 for IS subject.

That is quite all we did in Lesson 4 of IS.

intro to html and worksheet html

It is another Wednesday. And you know what? Wednesday has IS (inforcom study) lesson. Every time, IS lesson is very fun. This time, our IS teacher , Mr Kent introduce to us about html. Now, I know how to do a html.

We learnt how to make a html. We use note pad to do it. First we must open the html and close it. Then between the type in the parts , the head and body. Then in the head, type the title of your website. Then in the body, type your text there. You can group them in paragraph. You can also put lines.

We can even change the heading of some sentences. We can even put some colours and picture, even links, like links to your blog. When we do this html, we pair in two's and we did the worksheet together. We , me and my friend, did the html together. We discuss together and did it together. It was very fun.

Forum Discussions

It was another Wednesday and we had our IS lesson. Our IS teacher, Mr Kent scolded some of the pupils that did not done their homework ( BLOG). After that our teacher wanted us to send our IS Blog address to him.

Then, it was the main homework. Mr Kent wanted us to go to http://www.webnewmedia.ning.com and go to the Forum. There were three titles...
1) the social impact of new media technologies
2) ethical issues on media usage and intellectual property
3) blog/website differences.
Different index number had a different forum. Index 1 - 11 forum no 1, index number 12-22 forum no 2 and index number 23 - 33 forum no 3.

Mr Kent wanted us to immerse ourselves into all these discussions by penning down our opinions and responses in the forum. As I was index number 11, I wrote down my opinions and responses on forum no 1 ( the social impact of new media technologies). Each student need to write at least 100 words on his title. Next, reply on other pupil's opinion, at least 50 words each, 1 at his own title and one at other pupil's title.

I have done it and I'm very pround and happy!!

Picture

Does the picture look nice? I bet it does. I did it with some help from my friend. It was very fun. I did it in half an hour, most of the time picking pictures. But if you want me to teach you, please ask. I also wanted to change my template, but it was not good, so I delete it.

How can I put music into my blog???

My First IS Lesson : The Internet & WWW

It's was Wednesday. We had our IS lesson during the last 2 lesson. When I first went in the computer lab. Whoa... I love the chairs. It's so fun... You can zoom here, zoom there. OK, forget about the rolling chairs, let get down to business.

First our IS teacher, Mr Kent show us a video clip. If you want to see the video go to this website http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Q75KhAeqJg&feature=related. After that, Mr Kent talked about the history of Internet. It started from 4 host nodes then in 1984, there were more than 1000 host nodes. Today, more than 200 million host nodes. So you see how fast it is.

Mr Kent also told us what are the ways to access to Internet and there are three ways, that is using ISP, OSP and Wireless Internet Service Provider. I have alsso learnt what is an IP number and a domain name. Before they use domain name, they use IP numbers. NOw, most of the people use domain name.

Next, we learnt that there are more than 1 program to get into the Internet. There are a lot of them, like Internet Exprorer, Mozila Firefox, Netscape, Opera and Safari. I have also learnt some words, like www ( world wide web), URL (Uniform Resource Locator) and many more. I also learnt what is links and portals.

Myself...

Hi, I am Wei Lim. I am in class 1O2. My father is an IT manager. He taught me some things, but I am still not a ''pro''. I would be very happy to know how to make a website of my own. In primary schoool, I have learnt how to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. I know how to use the Internet. I usually use it to E-mail to my father and mother and to find information, but I would love to learn more.
